Tallassee’s 137 acres of Lake Weiss is well known for its bass fishing. The two main tournaments are the Annual Tallassee Bass Tournament held in April and the Alabama State Fishing tournament held every June.

The city has built an excellent Horse park located on Highway 229. This park has lots of trails for the average rider to experience.

Highway 229

Highway 229 is probably Tallassee’s most famous street running east and west through the center of town. It is known for its antique shops, restaurants, and its quaint little shopping area. The high school football field sits on Highway 229, and every Friday night in the fall, it is blocked off and turned into “The Showgrounds.”

Tallassee has one of the most beautiful golf courses in America, a world-class horse park, and an amusement park for kids when it comes to attractions. With all this, it’s easy to see why Tallassee is known as “AL’s Best Kept Secret.”

The most popular restaurant in Tallassee, AL, is Big Boy. It has been a tradition for over 60 years to go there after every Friday night football game and eat with the team.
